Hillary For President

If you had told me a year ago that I'd be writing this, I would've laughed in your face. No way! I would've proclaimed, I'm with Bernie! Well, that's true. I was with Bernie, in fact, I'm still with Bernie! He will be forever my first choice, a politician in the mainstream who actually extolled the same things I do about capitalism, worker's exploitation, ending Wall Street's choke hold on everyday Americans. But as the months went on during the primary, the hope I felt in his eventual rise to Democratic nominee, began to fade. And in May, I had to come to the realization that Sen. Sanders wouldn't be the nominee to take on Donald Trump in November. I was disappointed, I cried, I was upset. I put my heart and soul into this campaign. I felt genuine sadness that I hadn't felt for a candidate since Gov. Walker was reelected during the recall. After the sadness faded, in the dust was my candidate - Hillary Clinton. The woman I spent a year telling anyone who would listen why I would never vote for her. The person who represents Wall Street over Main Street, who would rather throw me to her corporate lions than help me.

And then I had a conversation with myself.

"Look, the choice we've got this year isn't easy. But politics isn't all about you. It's about the people you love, your child, your husband, family, the friends you couldn't live without, your home, your town. Politics is broader than what's in front of your own nose. Think of everyone who is Muslim, Latino, a woman, African-American, disabled, an immigrant, Native American, some LGBTQIA, a person with a pulse.." And that did it for me. I looked over Sec. Clinton's accomplishments from the first time she ever stepped in a courtroom, her time as First Lady of Arkansas, the First Lady of the United States, Senator from New York to Secretary of State. Her record matched up (calculated from most groups as around 92-93%) the same as that of Senator Sanders, and I knew then that #ImWithHer. The choice wasn't easy for me, but probably easier than it is for some of you, maybe even YOU, the person reading this right now, and that's okay. If you want to support her, do so! You'll get there. If you don't, then don't but don't expect me to respect that. To be fair, I never disliked Sec. Clinton based on any of the right wing talking points that have haunted her for the last 25 years. Do I think she's a war criminal hellbent on bombing the Middle East into oblivion the hide her emails and Benghazi? No. Absolutely not. And anyone with Google knows that to not be the truth. So seeing so many progressives buy into that noise is very disappointing and I hope they'll eventually come around.

So, what are those issues I support and agree with Sec. Clinton on? Well, I'll let her do the talking on that.

First off, her unwavering support for a women's rights. That's an absolute must for me in supporting any candidate for any office. If you believe you have the right to tell a woman she does not have bodily autonomy, you can get lost. I have no interest in listening to what you have to say any further. Sec. Clinton is committed to keeping abortion safe and legal, and ensuring the abortion clinics are fully funded and have the staff support they need. Also, PAID LEAVE! Uhhh...yes please! Oh, and that whole equal pay for equal work idea. No biggie, right?! NO IT IS A BIGGIE! That is not something you'll get under President Trump (which I shuddered even writing that.)

Secondly, her college debt free plan. This was one of the biggest things about Sen. Sanders I loved. And now it seems as though he's pushed Sec. Clinton to adopt most of his policy on this topic. As much as my husband and I don't like to think about it, what the next president does in terms of affordable higher education, will directly impact our 11 year old daughter. There's nothing any parent wants more for their child than for them to be able to afford college without the worry that years of college loan debt will follow them. Under Sec. Clinton's plan, so many families will find the relief they need in order to send their kids to college without hyperventilating at the idea of being able to afford it.

Thirdly, Wall Street reform. This was one of those issues that just drove me to madness with her. And I thank Sen. Sanders for this one directly, because I feel that without his pushing her on this one, she would not be as adamant about this reform as he is. After reading over her platform on Wall Street, I feel a million times more confident that she'll actually push for what she's calling for, instead of blowing smoke for votes.

Of course, this isn't a complete list of why I'm standing proudly with Sec. Clinton now. I wanted to touch on three key issues I really care about, and I could go on and on, but that gets boring! And she does have a website in which she lays out her platform very well. Besides, I haven't been mean to Donald Trump yet.

Speaking of Trump, can we just discuss him for a minute? I mean, we all know he's a nutty fascist, spreading his hateful manure across our fair land, but this is worse than anyone expected. Did you watch the RNC? Did you listen closely to his 'I alone can fix it' malarkey? (thanks Uncle Joe) or his shouts of bringing 'law and order' back to the US? That should be setting off alarms for everyone right now. That kind of talk is no joke, it's not funny and it should be taken seriously. His speech was everything the Constitution stands against. We're trying not to be a tyrannical nation, one led by an authoritarian dictator, but with Trump, that's exactly what we'll get. I know, it sounds like I'm trying to scare you into voting for Hillary, but I'm not. I'm laying out the truth. So while we may have a laugh at his throwing a baby out of his events, or the fact his tiny baby carrot hands bother him, or that he needs Michelle Obama to write speeches for his wife, what he's bringing to the table, and what his millions of followers are bringing, is nothing short of dangerous and scary. I know, I know, "I'm just voting for the lesser of two evils!" you're telling me. Well, maybe I don't see it that way, and maybe if people take off those blinders, proudly brought to you by the right wing, you won't see it that way either. Sec. Clinton has done enormous amounts of good (and yes bad things I disagree with) that we'd be foolish not to give her the opportunity so many women have fought and died to bring us and hand it off to a neo-Nazi.

I am a socialist Bernie loving, capitalism-hating feminist. And I am standing firmly, and proudly with Sec. Clinton. If we all stand together, we can't lose in November.

Scott Walker - Our Criminal Governor

Truth

This weekend must not have been a very fun one for poor ol' Scott Walker, what with tons more evidence of serious criminal conduct coming to light. I have to say though, my favorite part of all of this, is the fact that Scott Walker was doing deals with the devil. That's right, Mr. Karl Rove himself. Is it wrong that I'm reveling in this? Because I totally am.

Scott Walker doesn't really care about much. He doesn't care about our schools, he doesn't care about our barely alive state of employment. He could care less if you have affordable health insurance, he doesn't give a shit that you can't afford college, food, shelter or clothing. He doesn't care that your kids are hungry, or if they're getting the best education they can be. No no, Scott Walker only cares about one person - Scott Walker, which is why he summoned Satan to help him win his recall in 2012.

You see, in this new batch of documents, it shows Walker did the jailhouse dance with Rove in order to keep himself in office and to raise funds for his equally grotesque recalled senate buddies. Not only was Walker involved, but members of his staff, which is where all the criminal activity begins.

You see, if you're leading someone's campaign, you cannot also be working to raise money for outside groups like American's for Prosperity, or in this case, Wisconsin Club for Growth, who Walker's chief of staff R.J. Johnsonwas working with to procure money for Walker and the GOP senators up for recall. This should be taught in Politics School 101 - ILLEGALLY COORDINATING OUTSIDE MONEY FOR YOUR CAMPAIGN IS BAD.

Only a total idiot would've thought, "oh hey, it's totally cool to work for the governor's recall campaign while working to raise unlimited amounts of dark money to HELP my candidate and his buddies win their recalls, right?." Then again, this is Walker we're talking about,. It's clear he has no concept of law and believes that he is above it.

So why is it bad that he did the devil's dance with Rove? Well, first of all, it's ILLEGAL to coordinate your campaign with an outside group, which is what Walker's campaign did. Also, Karl Rove? Really? You couldn't have done any worse (unless we're talking Dick Cheney levels of evil.) You're making deals with the man who has the blood of thousands of dead American soldiers and Iraqis on his hands. Just remember that. That right there speaks volumes of Walker and all of the Wisconsin Republicans.

There is a criminal culture here in Wisconsin with our politicians. I'm not biased here, because there are certainly some progressive senators and assemblypeople I don't like, but why is it that Walker takes office in 2010, and suddenly, the state just explodes in a cloud of total chaos? And he thinks he deserves another chance to be governor? Even if you support the guy, you can't deny the evidence that's being presented before you. You can't honestly try to convince yourself and others that Walker is an honest guy who wants what's best for Wisconsin. Scott Walker wants best for his pocketbook and for those who'll help him with his presidential aspirations.

You broke the law, Gov. Walker. So, I'm calling on you to resign and be honest with the voters of Wisconsin. Accept your wrongdoing, apologize and own up to it. Besides, there's plenty of lobbying jobs looking for criminal conservative ex-politicians!

Gay Marriage Ban In Wisconsin OVERTURNED

Did your marriage fall apart today? It didn't? So gay marriage isn't bringing down society? WHO KNEW!

Best news to come out of Wisconsin in awhile (besides the day they put Scott Walker in handcuffs and haul his criminal ass to jail.) Today, Federal judge Barbara Crabbs ruled the 2006 ban on gay marriage UNCONSTITUTIONAL! This is terrific news for everyone who believes in human rights and isn't a dick.

Fox News Poop Talk Roundtable

Beware Fox News
I am a HUGE fan of Neil deGrasse Tyson. He's brilliant, funny and presents science in a way total science dolts like myself can understand. My husband and I have been hopelessly addicted to Cosmos since it started. It's informative (which Fox is not) it's smart (which Fox is not) and you actually learn (which you do not do when watching Fox.) I've actually understood scientific ideas that I had no concept of whatsoever in school. I can't rave about it enough. Go do yourself a favor and watch it!

However, being a seriously accomplished scientist with a television show, a podcast, multiple degrees and brilliance beyond this world is NOT okay with Fox News, especially if you're African-American.

If you've never heard of Gavin McInnes, a white supremacist, and yes I can say that because he wrote for VDARE, you're not missing out. He's co-founder of Vice (they kicked him out in 2008) and a Grade A douchebag. McInnes stated today during a usually Fox News verbal diarrhea circus that he believes "white liberals" love Neil deGrasse Tyson so much that we'd love for him to literally poop all over us! It's hard to imagine that this is what passes as "intellectual discourse" on Fox News (not really.) Strange, but I can't seem recall a time when Rachel Maddow or Chris Matthews ever discussed how Republicans would love for Ronald Reagan to poop on them. And honestly, if you sit and think about people literally pooping on your political opponents, that speaks volumes about you. Is that a prerequisite for employment with Fox? Hmm..

But this isn't deGrasse Tyson's first slander hour by Fox, which shouldn't surprise anyone. Fox's real gripe is that he disproves their religious extremism at every opportunity. Everyone knows that Fox relies heavily on their viewers Christian zealotry and hatred of science in order to sell their stories that climate change is fake. And while McInnes and Greg Gutfeld, another Fox weasel, were yucking up all the poop talk, they also decided to take a swing at the tremendous amount of education deGrasse Tyson has. He holds multiple degrees from Harvard, Columbia and the University of Texas - Austin. I guess Greg Gutfeld is just a tiny bit jealous he's a knuckle dragging idiot who is helping to systematically bring down the intellectual curve of society instead of being a brilliant astrophysicist, but poor Greggy will just have to get over it.

Oh and did I mention Gavin McInnes is not only really racist-

His take on being white:

"I love being white and I think it's something to be very proud of ... I don't want our culture diluted. We need to close the borders now and let everyone assimilate to a Western, white, English-speaking way of life." -

Race is clearly the key issue to his hatred of deGrasse Tyson considering McInnes is nothing more than a hipster racist pirate who spends all day thinking about pooping on people. He's a bro who never grew up and acts like a jackass. No wonder he's always on Fox!

What I imagine he's thinking, "How can I hate black people today?"

But sexist, too? He claims feminism has made "women unhappy" which, as a woman, I can totally say is true!

"Women are feigning that toughness. We’ve trivialized childbirth and being domestic so much that women are forced to pretend to be men. They’re feigning this toughness, they’re miserable."

I mean, having rights, being able to make up my own mind, have a job, my own opinion is just SO TOUGH ON MY LADY BRAIN. We ARE miserable! RIGHTS ARE HARD, MY OVARIES CAN'T HANDLE IT! I'm so glad Gavin McInnes is there to help me see the light!

It shouldn't surprise anyone that this is the caliber of trash Fox News is using for "intellectual discussion" nowadays, and I use the word intellectual incredibly loosely. Also, again, this guy is a white supremacist. Why is Fox News allowing a WHITE SUPREMACIST on their shitty shows? It's a question for the ages.

I'll leave you with this. From Media Matters -

"McInnes currrently writes for Taki's Magazine, a "paleoconservative" website that publishes overtly racist articles including ones by neo-confederates."

Fox News - Keeping it classy as always with racist, sexist pirate hipster bros.

New blog!

I decided to start my own blog, but don't worry! I'll still be over at  Cognitive Dissidence to harass Cap and Jeff from time to time. We all know they couldn't make it without me! Just kidding, guys! Visit them everyday! They're a bunch of badasses :)

This blog is dedicated to current events from my socialist point of view with an equal mix of snarky and funny. I live in Wisconsin, so expect lots of breaking news about Scott Walker, as we know hos he is with "following the laws." However, before I go any further, let's put out a little disclaimer here. When Republicans, conservatives and Tea Party fundies scream and shout about socialism, they're usually referring to the "socialism" of the Soviet Union. You know, Stalin, gulags, mass industrialism, gray skies, sadness. Those things are not socialism. I find myself having to explain this time and again, that when I say I'm a socialist, I'm not referring to Stalin, because he himself was not one. The Soviet Union after Lenin died, and Trotsky was exiled, was authoritarianism. China is not socialist! What kind of socialist country would be the Land of Sweatshops and laws against unions? Oh wait...hey that kind of sounds like Tea Party heaven....

Also, North Korea? not socialist. Okay, did I clear that up? Wheew, great!

I really love writing, it's been a passion of mine since I as a kid, and I love putting it to good use informing people of current events and keeping people abreast of right-wing extremism and right-wing shenanigans. I will put all of myself into it and I hope you all get as much out of it as you can.

Happy reading!
